Blue Bell Hill, Aylesford
The A229 over Blue Bell Hill in Kent is notorious for ghostly encounters. Since the 1960s, drivers have reported hitting or swerving to avoid a young woman who vanishes without trace. The sightings began after a 1965 crash that killed three women, including a bride-to-be, though witnesses often describe a different figure. One driver in 1974 claimed to strike a crying child who disappeared, leaving only a blanket. Others have seen an old woman with dark eyes and a shawl. The road’s eerie reputation, steeped in ancient history and tragedy, has made it one of Britain’s most haunted routes.
