Britannia Inn, Stockport

Shortly after its conversion into business premises in 1966, the former Britannia Inn on Churchgate was reportedly the site of unexplained disturbances. Staff described objects being moved overnight, a gas pipe torn from a wall, and a terrified cat reacting to an unseen presence. Activity began after a disused cellar was reopened and the floor levelled. Some suggested underground water or air pressure from a deep well may have been responsible, though others remained unconvinced. The building was ultimately abandoned for manufacturing use.
