Brookhouse Farm, Mottram St. Andrew

Brookhouse Farm, an 18th-century farmhouse in Mottram St Andrew, is said to be haunted by the spirit of a former resident known locally as Mr Bowler. Around 1989, Anna Rains awoke to see a ruddy-faced man in a hat sitting at the edge of her bed before he slowly faded from view. Villagers later identified the figure as Mr Bowler, who had lived there from about 1910 to 1930 and was remembered for his piercing eyes and pork-pie hat.
