This 16th-century cottage on Manchester Road was said to be haunted by a ‘fair maiden in grey’ who reportedly appeared during the night. In the 1990s, the house was featured in a national guide as one of the first UK venues offering civil weddings alongside bed-and-breakfast accommodation. Guests who witnessed the apparition were reportedly unfazed. It is now a private residence.
