Greyhound Inn, Compstall

A short-lived beerhouse active from around 1832 and derelict by 1879, the building gained a haunted reputation. Witnesses reported strange figures in the windows, eerie activity in the grounds, and sightings of a headless man—particularly after the premises fell vacant. Local children reportedly avoided passing it on foot.
