Hellens Manor, Ledbury

Hellens Manor near Hereford, dating from the 11th century, is said to be haunted by Hetty Walwyn, who was imprisoned by her family after an unsuitable romance and later took her own life. Her message, scratched on a windowpane, remains visible, and her ghost is reported in her former room. A priest killed during the Civil War is also said to appear in a dark hooded gown, and in Victorian times servants refused to stay overnight because of unexplained disturbances.
