Pengersick Castle, Penzance
Pengersick Castle, near Praa Sands, has long been linked to sinister legends of its early inhabitants. The “Lady of Pengersick” was said to appear after death in part-human, part-serpent form, haunting the ruins for centuries. Folklore claims she poisoned her husband and threw herself into the sea after her body became covered in scales. Other tales speak of her husband’s dark magic and his mysterious Saracen wife, whose songs enchanted sea creatures and mermaids. Their spirits were last seen rising in flames when the castle burned during a storm.
