Quarry Bank Mill and its adjoining Apprentice House are said to be haunted by several female spirits, most notably a “woman in white.” Apparitions and cold spots are frequently reported in the attics, where Mrs Timperley, a 19th-century supervisor’s wife, was once laid out after her death. Visitors, staff, and animals have all shown unease in the building, and paranormal investigators claim to have captured unexplained phenomena near the mill and lake.
