Reddinick Guest House, Penzance
In 1961, a Cheadle Hulme couple travelled to Penzance to investigate a ghost said to haunt Mrs Schofield’s parents’ guest house at Reddinick. The spirit, affectionately named “Charlie,” was described as a harmless, misty figure who appeared in the same bedroom and was often heard playing a lute soon after midnight. The house was long reputed to be haunted, possibly linked to local pirate legends. Though her husband was eager to stay up and watch, Mrs Schofield admitted she would be “scared stiff” to meet the ghost herself.
