Snowshill Manor, a Tudor house once owned by Charles Paget Wade who practiced magic in a top-floor room marked with a painted pentagram, is said to leave a lasting impression on those who visit. Some guests have refused to enter altogether. The room gained notoriety centuries earlier when Anne Parsons was forced into marriage there on St Valentine’s Eve 1604, though she refused to spend the night inside. Other ghosts include a monk seen on the stairs and in the lane, and the spirit of a landowner who once appeared to deliver a final message to his widow.
