The Haunted Computer, Stockport
In 1988, staff at a Stockport architectural firm reported that their Amstrad PC1512 computer appeared to be haunted. The unplugged machine reportedly glowed, groaned, projected images without software, and even switched itself on. Frightened employees refused to use it, prompting investigation by computer magazine editor Ken Hughes, who filmed the device for months without finding any rational cause. Displayed at the Amstrad Computer Show in London, the so-called “haunted computer” left experts completely baffled.
