Bradwell Dale, Bradwell

On stormy nights, the ghost of Margaret Vernon of Hazelbadge Hall is said to gallop through Bradwell Dale on a spectral horse. According to local legend, she rode home in despair after witnessing her lover’s marriage at Hope Church, her mind breaking from grief. Since her death, riders and walkers have reported seeing her spirit racing between Hope and Hazelbadge at midnight, her figure outlined against rain and wind. The story has long been tied to the Vernons’ ancestral seat, once a prominent Tudor manor.
