Brushes Valley, Stalybridge

In the mid-1930s, two young women walking in Brushes Valley near the third reservoir reportedly encountered two Highland soldiers playing bagpipes, who passed without acknowledgement and disappeared around a bend. The figures appeared suddenly, and no other witnesses could be found. Decades later, one of the women recalled the incident in detail and noted its proximity to a manor house said to have once hosted Bonnie Prince Charlie. The event has been interpreted as a possible timeslip or residual haunting.
