Reports include two elderly figures in seventeenth or eighteenth century dress who walked arm in arm into the keep before vanishing. Staff and visitors have also heard the sound of steel clashing and human-like murmurs. In 1977 a young worker saw the figure of a woman in a white gown near the zoo area of the castle, accompanied by strange noises. Some incidents have been attributed to animals, but witnesses maintain the figures were human in appearance.
