In the 1970s, multiple residents of Hawthorn Street, Wilmslow, reported sightings of a ghostly female figure described as a black-hooded spectre. Mrs Doris Cole recalled seeing the apparition around 14 years earlier in the front room of her former home at 77 Hawthorn Street. She described the figure as resembling a nun, swaying silently in front of the fireplace before disappearing through a closed window.
