The long-demolished South Head Farm, once standing between Edale and Hayfield, was said to be haunted by the spirit of a young woman murdered in her bedroom by a jealous suitor. Her ghost was heard as bumping sounds on the stairs and seen as a white figure running toward the stream where her body was hidden.
