St Petrock’s Church, Parracombe

In 1985 Mrs N. Thomas of South Molton visited St Petrock’s Church and was suddenly seized by a powerful sense of terror and evil near the altar, as though two people had once suffered greatly there. She fled the building, later surrounding her bed with prayer books to keep away what she felt was a malevolent force. On returning with friends, one sensed the same dread and saw the image of a hooded monk. Another felt the same overwhelming fear. The experience left all convinced the church holds a deep, unsettling presence.
