The Phantom Wolf, Wormhill

Wormhill was once surrounded by dense woodland and linked to the medieval “wolf-hunt” tenure, where landholders were tasked with driving out wolves. Local tradition holds that the last wolf in England was killed here in the sixteenth century. In modern times, motorists travelling the B6049 between Miller’s Dale and the A6 have reported being chased at night by a huge, wolf-like creature that runs alongside their cars at great speed before vanishing into the dark.
