In 1989, Frank and Julie Owen of Peregrine Drive, Irlam, reported a violent haunting in their twenty-year-old council house. Their three-year-old daughter Joanne claimed an old woman visited her at night, talking and playing games. Soon after, the family experienced terrifying disturbances: the television switching off by itself, doors rattling, objects thrown—including a lock hurled at a visiting medium—and a clock smashed. The entity reportedly swore at their child. Even neighbours heard mysterious knocking. Eventually, Father Lionel Devany of St Joseph’s Church blessed the property, but the Owens temporarily fled in fear.
