A visitor from Fairfield once stayed overnight at a nearby farm after being stranded by a snowstorm. While resting in the parlour, he was repeatedly disturbed by the sound of a dog whining in the room. The next morning, he mentioned it to the farmer, who told him there was no dog in the house. The noise, he explained, came from the ghost of a beloved farm dog that had died three years earlier.
