Salford

Salford is a city in its own right, administratively distinct from Manchester and with a history that predates its neighbour’s industrial dominance. Its landscape of medieval halls, Victorian theatres, and industrial-era streets preserves evidence of a community that developed on its own terms, and its ghost lore reflects that independent character.

Its most prominent haunted site is Ordsall Hall, one of the oldest surviving manor houses in the region, but accounts from Salford extend across a wider range of building types. The city has a strong oral tradition and a detailed local press record, and its better-documented haunting accounts are grounded in verifiable local history rather than in later invention.
