Bollington Barn, Bollington

In 1835, a report in the Macclesfield Courier described the discovery of human remains in a pit near Bollington Barn, a farmhouse once located on what is now Victoria Road. The remains, identified as female, included a skull with three unexplained perforations and were wrapped in a heavy flagstone. Local rumours claimed they belonged to a murdered woman whose ghost had haunted the property for years. The house had reportedly seen frequent turnover in occupants, some of whom cited strange noises and sightings. The mystery of the woman’s identity and how she came to be buried there remains unsolved.
