Dane Bank, Denton

At Dane Bank in Denton, tradition holds that a Danish chieftain was slain during a battle between Danes and Saxons around 894 AD. His grave is said to lie beneath a large stone in a garden on the site, marked by a commemorative plaque. Local accounts describe sightings of the restless spirit of the fallen warrior wandering the area where he made his last stand.
