A wedding at Hatherlow Chapel in the 1960s gave rise to a story of a spectral appearance. The bride’s uncle, who had died shortly before the ceremony, had promised to attend in spirit. When photographs of the wedding party were later viewed, guests noticed an unexplained gap in the group. A guest who recalled standing beside a man matching the deceased uncle’s description confirmed that no such person had been present.
