Old Ned, Calver

A ruined barn near the River Derwent, a few hundred yards from Stoke Hall, is said to be haunted by the ghost of Old Ned, a carrier who reportedly hanged himself there after several failed attempts to do so on nearby trees. According to local tradition, his apparition may still be seen at midnight tearing branches from the trees before vanishing into the ruins.
