Ordsall Hall, Salford

Ordsall Hall is renowned as one of the most haunted houses in Manchester, with tales centring on its famous White Lady, thought to be Lady Margaret Radclyffe, maid of honour to Queen Elizabeth I. Her ghost, seen in the Great Hall, is said to mourn her brother’s death in battle. Other spirits include a pipe-smoking man, an elderly woman in blue linked to embroidery, and a tall robed male presence in the gallery. Staff have reported footsteps, spectral scents, mysterious lights, and objects falling when unseen forces are said to announce themselves.
