Phantom Figure, Hawthorn Street, Wilmslow
In the 1970s, multiple residents of Hawthorn Street, Wilmslow, reported sightings of a ghostly female figure described as a black-hooded spectre. Mrs Doris Cole recalled seeing the apparition around 14 years earlier in the front room of her former home at 77 Hawthorn Street. She described the figure as resembling a nun, swaying silently in front of the fireplace before disappearing through a closed window. On another occasion, she heard a disembodied female voice coming from an empty upstairs room. Other witnesses, including a local man and a fish bar manager, also reported unexplained experiences near the same stretch of street. The house in question has since been demolished.
