The Old Quay, Neston

The Quay House in Parkgate, once a busy port for travellers to Ireland, was reportedly visited by a gentle female ghost described as an elderly lady in a red cloak. This spirit was said to keep company with an invalid niece of the artist Henry Melling, who lived there towards the end of the 19th century. The house had previously functioned as a prison and a hostel, possibly explaining the presence of an earth-bound spirit, though the identity of the apparition remains unknown.
