Brandy Row

A reported sighting on Bean Leach Road, formerly the site of Brandy Row cottages, involved a silent female figure gliding above the ground, dressed in dark clothing with a shawl and lantern. The figure was seen to vanish through a hedge without a trace. Local accounts associate the apparition with a woman whose child is said to have drowned in the nearby Poise Brook. According to tradition, she searched the area nightly with a lantern, and her presence was believed by some to continue after her death.
