The Database is Now Live

The updated database is operational, featuring manual entries and a redesigned homepage, aiming to expand into a national record of hauntings.

The updated database has arrived a little later than planned, although it is now properly up and running. The work behind it remains entirely manual, with each entry added by hand and checked against its sources. It takes time, but it keeps the archive grounded. Every place is entered with its details, a short summary, visiting information and a link to the map so visitors can trace the story back to its location.

The homepage has also been given a significant re-design to reflect the new structure of the archive. Featured entries, recent additions and the map now sit more clearly together, making it easier to explore the material as it grows.

Over the next few weeks the focus will be on refining the existing entries. A few older ones need clearer references, tidier summaries or improved information. Once that stage is complete, the aim is to widen the reach of the project and begin adding material from across the United Kingdom. The intention is for the database to grow into a national record of hauntings, folklore and uncanny history that can be explored in a steady and reliable way.

Alongside this wider expansion, I’ll again be adding longer articles for some of the more substantial or unusual cases. These will sit beside the main database entries and give extra room for narrative, research and archival detail.

The project is entirely self-funded at the moment, and expanding the database brings extra costs for hosting, tools and the services needed to keep everything synchronised. It has become something of a second job, built in the quieter hours around real life. If you enjoy the archive or find it useful, a share or a small donation helps more than you might think and is very much appreciated.

Contributions of information are also welcome. Photographs of sites, notes from local history groups or memories tied to particular locations would all be gratefully received. Each addition helps shape the archive into something richer and more complete.
