Didsbury College, once the world’s oldest Methodist theological college, was long associated with a ghost said to appear near the college observatory. The figure is believed to be that of a former tutor, a keen astronomer who had overseen the observatory’s construction and reportedly never left.
Witnesses over the years, including Red Cross patients when the building operated as a wartime convalescent hospital, reported being disturbed by the presence. The Georgian mansion, formerly owned by the Mosley family, was sold in 1945 and the institution moved to its new home in Bristol, where it retained the name Didsbury College.
